The Creating Opportunities Fund (COF) is established by ANC09 & ASLIA Vic for our –
“… colleagues from the income-poor countries of our region, who have much to gain”.

This fund provides ASLIA members, their supporters or other individuals or organisations with the opportunity to assist signed language interpreting colleagues in countries less developed than ours.
Assistance in this context means providing funds that will allow colleagues from income poor countries to attend the ASLIA National Conference in 2009, and to support them in:
- Developing a network of contacts that can offer training, support, information and advice;
- Advocating and participating in discussions that affect their work;
- Participating in discussions that affect our profession;
- Sharing experiences and exchanging information.
 
We are proud to be sponsoring 4 sign language interpreters from Uganda, Fiji, Cambodia and Thailand. For more information and their personal stories, please read on!!

The 2009 Creating Opportunities Fund – COF ‘09

All donations to the COF ’09 will be used to support the 4 interpreters to attend ANC 2009.

What will be funded: The COF will cover costs for the four interpreters to attend ANC. This includes travel costs, Visa costs, accommodation and conference fees.

Requirements of funded individuals: The sponsored interpreters will share insights with interpreters & Deaf communities on their return, and will provide feedback on how the event was of benefit in their country.

* All Donations are tax deductible * ASLIA Vic has arranged a partnership with ‘Deaf Action’, which enables all donations to be tax deductable. Receipts will be sent to your email address from ‘Deaf Action’ by July 2009.

HERE ARE SOME WAYS THAT YOU OR YOUR ORGANISATION CAN SUPPORT TO THE ‘CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FUND’ FOR THE ANC 2009:

She’s in the ASLIA Vic Office - You can take her home for $10.00... and donate her savings too She’s very available now!
